Key Stage 3
All students continue their study of French in the first term of Year 9 with German introduced as an additional language in top-band teaching groups. At the end of the first term, after careful consultation and on the recommendation of their teachers, students will begin a GCSE or equivalent course in one language.
We favour a lively, interactive, fun approach to language learning, integrating the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and incorporating the latest technologies. We place strong emphasis on oral communication, at the same time ensuring that the students gain a sound knowledge of the grammar and structures of the languages in order that they can communicate effectively in writing as well as orally. Students work as a class, in groups or pairs and individually.
