I have had the privilege of being Vernon House Leader for the last three years. The House consists of a sixth form House Team, a superb group of supportive tutors and around 450 keen students who take great pride in being part of Vernon.
The "crew in blue" work by the motto that Together Everyone Achieves More. We are the current House Champions for 2008/09 and have won the Eisteddfod for the last three years in succession. We have always been a strong House in terms of our contribution to the House Sports over the academic year. House Choir has been a major strength to our Eisteddfod performance although I was delighted that we were also winners of the Drama section in this year's competition.
The House System provides an excellent opportunity for a small group of sixth form students to work as a team, develop leadership skills and gain confidence in areas that they would normally not have to deal with on a daily basis in the classroom. I have taken great satisfaction from being able to work with my House Teams so far and I'm thrilled to say that the current team show great promise and I'm looking forward to see what they can do for Vernon in 2009/10.
