Food Technology

Year 10 & 11

GCSE Food Technology is the study of current market trends and consumer needs. In Food Technology we design food products for specific markets; for example you may be asked to design a healthy ready meal for children or a vegetarian meal suitable for serving on a long haul flight to Australia. This course has a large practical element and pupils are required to cook every week. Successful pupils have the opportunity to continue studying Food Technology at A Level. 

Year 12 & 13

Food Technology is taught at AS and A2 Level. Food Technology is for students who which to expand their knowledge of nutrition and new food product development. There is a significant practical element where students trial and develop their recipe ideas, 50% of the A level is based on coursework. Career opportunities span Food Science, Nutrition Therapy, Retailing, Marketing and New Product Development.
